Last year we experienced our very first Eurocamp holiday and we have decided to book another Eurocamp holiday next year. Last year we stayed at Fabulous Camping Village in Rome and ever since we have been inundated with questions about our Eurocamp experience. Here’s a quick post to discuss just exactly what a Eurocamp holiday is and how it differs from any other holiday I have ever experienced.
Locations
Eurocamp boast over 400 destinations scattered throughout Europe.

As you can see, Eurocamps are located in some key holiday hot spots throughout Europe. Many are close to the coast and so visitors can enjoy the perfect beach holiday.
If you take a closer look at the map, in the country I am most familiar with, Italy, you’ll notice Eurocamps dotted around some of the more famous Italian cities and landmarks. For instance, you’ll find 2 Eurocamps close to the city of Rome and several close by.

There are also several within extremely close proximity to the historic city of Venice and a few others around Florence.

If you’re anything like me and prefer to explore the area you stay in rather than be restricted solely to the complex, then make sure you book a Eurocamp in close proximity to a beach or a place of interest.
Accommodation
Each location caters for a different clientele, some sites will cater more for campers, others for campervans, some contain mostly cabins or caravans and many a mixture of all types of accommodation. So if you prefer to travel and pitch up your own tent, to travel in your campervan, or if you like to stay in a cabin, there’s something for everyone.
If you book to stay in a cabin (as many do) each location differs in the style, type and classification of cabin they offer. Most will offer a basic cabin, a silver style cabin and then a premium and often varieties of these in between.
The level of accommodation you choose will depend on your specific needs. Things to consider are:
- Does anyone in your party have accessibility issues?
- How much time do you plan to spend in your accommodation?
- How many bedrooms do you require?
- Will you require a parking spot next to your accommodation?
- Do you need a full kitchen?
- Would you like a BBQ outside of your cabin?
From my own experience, we stayed in a mid range/silver cabin.

It was a 3 bedroom cabin (we would have fit comfortably in a 2, I only booked the 3 bedroom as it was the same price as a 2 bedroom cabin at the time of booking). For 2 adults and one pre-teen, we had ample room and would have remained comfortable had we doubled the number of us.

The kitchen was well equipped and we had a BBQ outside the cabin. We also benefited from a parking space right outside our cabin which some locations offer. The veranda was a fantastic with a table and chairs and it became the perfect place to enjoy our evening meals.

Most Eurocamps will give you the option to hire your bedding and towels, or you can opt to bring your own bedding. On our visit to Fabulous Camping Village, I did bring my own bedding, however, the sizes given on the site didn’t quite match up to the bedding I had brought with me. This was no issue as I arranged to hire the sheets during my visit.
The Camps
Each camp differs in the facilities, activities and amenities it offers to its guests.
The camps are arranged into different categories:
Campsites
Smaller in size and offer a much quieter experience. These size camps would be perfect for families with younger children, couples and those who want a more relaxed holiday yet still benefit from excellent facilities.
Villages
These are medium sized camps which offer a combination of a busier experience with a more relaxed vibe. You’ll find lots of entertainment and possibly multiple swimming pools but on a medium size camp. Villages are a great introduction to the Eurocamp experience.

Resorts
If you’re looking for a livelier holiday, opt for a larger park, known as a resort. These tend to offer multiple swimming pools, and even water parcs. The resorts seem to have better entertainment throughout the day and during the evening making them a great option for families who want a more active experience.
Booking
During the booking process, you can use the toggle to narrow down your search. Options include location, park size, park rating, accommodation types, activities and entertainment and proximity to the airport.
The booking process is rather straightforward and options are available throughout enabling your to change your booking, be that the dates of travel or accommodation type. This enables you to get the holiday the suits both your needs and your budget.
If you’re a returning customer, you’ll benefit from a loyalty discount and there are always plenty of sales throughout the year.
What Makes a Eurocamp Holiday Different?
I have spent the previous 30 something years embarking on more traditional style holidays. We would fly to the destination, load onto a coach with dozens of people from different hotels and spend the rest of our day slowly heading towards our hotel. For the remainder of the holiday, we would live in the confines of the hotel complex and lounge around the pool all day. By the end of the fortnight holiday, we would all be desperate to return home after keeping the same routine and eating the same foods of the two weeks. Eurocamp holidays offer a wonderful alternative. From the booking process to your return home, there is a sense of modernity and freedom.

Eurocamps can be huge! The inclusion of so many swimming pools on some sites means each complex is similar to a town. The activities change daily and with so much to choose from, you’ll never be bored. With shops and restaurants on site, you don’t need to leave the complex, if you choose not to. But if you do, you’ll be close to beaches, historic cites and famous landmarks. The sites can often be found in locations where traditional hotels are not found.
The accommodation is also different; if you book a cabin you’ll have plenty of space for you and your family rather than all sleeping in a small hotel room or apartment.

With so much space on site, there’s ample room for your car if you decide to drive. We combined our last Eurocamp experience with a road trip through Europe. This would have been impossible to do on a traditional beach holiday.
If you’re looking for something different this summer, take the plunge and give Eurocamps a try! You won’t regret it and you’ll be taking advantage of that loyalty discount year after year.
