The Best Renovations To Consider For Next Year

Renovating your house takes some planning. It’s not something you should do on a whim, or with the first contractor you come across! As such, it’s probably best to plan them to happen in the new year; give yourself time and you’re much more likely to get the results you actually want.

But what renovations would be best to consider? Let’s go through a quick list of the most valuable and functional down below.

Converting the Loft

If you’ve got loft space in your home, and it isn’t just a pokey hole you keep your Christmas decorations in, you could pay for a loft conversion in the new year. Doing so would add an extra room to your home, which can add around 20% extra value to the price of it. It’s also a great way to maximise on space without losing any functionality. You can still store things up there, but it’s also a home cinema, game room, or office you can use when you need to.

Energy Conversions

Making your home more energy efficient is a great use of your money in the renovation world. The less you have to spend on energy bills, and the smaller your carbon footprint, the healthier your bank balance and family will be. Look into padding out your insulation or switching to solar panels and batteries in the long term. The greneer your energy production and consumption, the easier it’s going to be to be a homeowner.

Exterior Refinement

The exterior of your home should never be ignored during a period of renovations. Not only does new paint or siding or a new roof add more value to your home, but it just looks so much better too! As such, look into hiring an exterior house painting service in the near future and see how much that would cost you. You should also think about the landscaping you’re making use of and whether or not that’s spotty or outdated by now.

Modernising the Kitchen

If you haven’t worked on the kitchen in a while, it’s time to modernise it and get a facelift of the room completed. It’s the best thing for adding value internally, as the kitchen is the most used room in the house (even more than the bathroom!), and a comfortable place to cook and eat food is what most people look for when they’re in the market for a new home. As a result, this is the best thing to save up for in the new year, so be sure to funnel a lot of your effort this way when you’re considering renovation.

If you want to add value to your home, and make it a bit more functional as well, save up and do most of your renovations in the year after you first have the idea. This is likely to prevent mistakes and makes it a lot easier to plan something until the very last detail. And never rush into a contract!

This is a collaborative post, however, as always, all opinions are my own.
