On the lookout for cheap family days out this summer, we decided to visit The Crocky Trail. Located in Chester, it is approximately an hour’s drive from where we live in Manchester. The Crocky Trail is one of those family-friendly days out I have heard about for years now. Every one of my friends who has visited the Crocky Trail highly recommended it.
Our Visit to The Crocky Trail
Dogs on leads are welcome at the Crocky Trail so we packed the dogs in the car and brought along a picnic. Booking in advance online, we arrived and parked in the free car park which is close to the entrance of the Crocky Trail.
I was surprised by just how big this attraction is. The Crocky Trail really does have something for everyone – there are slides, games and a huge nature walk. Close to the entrance of the park, you’ll find a variety of slides to suit all tastes and ages. Some of the slides are for the more daring amongst us. Whereas the smaller slides will suit younger children or those of us who are not so gutsy!
In this area, there are other amusements, such as football nets and the barrel roll. My daughter loved the barrel roll. It reminded her of an old amusement funhouse!

Within this giant play area, there’s also basketball nets, a bucking bronco and a shooting range. One of the favourite attractions for the kids in our group was the ‘Titanic’ slide. The object of the ride is to stay on the longest. As the floor raises higher and higher and the slope becomes bigger and bigger, it can be rather tricky to hang on!

We spent a good couple of hours in this activity area. The children absolutely loved all the attractions on offer in this area.

The Trail
The nature walk or trail is approximately a mile long. It forms a circuit around the location. The amazing thing about the trail is the sheer amount of activities you’ll find along the way. The children were constantly entertained. The activities were dotted along the route at very short intervals.
The kids loved the rope swings and there were plenty of them too!

We found a giant Connect 4!

Along the route, the children played on the bridges, some of these were wobbly and lots of fun!

The trail was also great for the dogs too who loved to sniff and play all along the route.

At the end of the trail, we found the Spinning Disk. It gave us Mums a chance to sit down in the seated area and watch the children have some more fun!
We also enjoyed food from the food parlour which was very reasonably priced.

There was a huge queue for ice cream but it was well worth the wait.
We really enjoyed our day out at the Crocky Trail and are looking forward to making a return visit in the half-term holidays!
