How To Plan The Perfect Garden Renovation

How To Plan The Perfect Garden Renovation

Now is the perfect time to create your springtime to-do list which will give you time to prepare for any projects you might have in mind. My mind is turning towards my garden as I plan for the year ahead. I’m planning a huge garden renovation next year and I’m incredibly excited about it. If you are also thinking of a garden renovation project, here are a few things you might need to bear in mind.

Landscaping has become extremely popular in the UK, with more homeowners than ever before investing in their exterior design and making their garden an at-home oasis that is an extended version of the interior they can enjoy all year round.

Despite the size or construction of your garden, some are merely smaller concrete yards, while other homes have a vast section of land that needs to be tended to; there are always options when it comes to landscaping your garden and giving it a new lease on life.

If you don’t know where to start, these tips can help you design the right outdoor space for your home to make it the place to go once the weather changes and temperatures begin to rise again.

Who Will Use It

Before making any changes, you need to consider who uses the garden. Do you have pets who spend time out there, meaning you need a space that doesn’t have anything unsafe, i.e. pet poisonous plants or uncovered water features and is easy to clean up, or do you have young children who need a safe space to play and have fun? Let your current circumstances dictate your new landscaping designs to ensure you get the most functionality from it.

What Do You Want From It

What exactly do you want from space? For some people, it simply needs to be low maintenance so they don’t have to tend to it frequently aside from regular brushing and cleaning; for others, they need dedicated spaces and areas for play, dining, patio or grassed areas with flower beds. You can’t landscape your outdoor space until you pinpoint what you need from it and what it can become.

Safety First

Next, you should be considering the safety aspects of your garden. Is it secure from the outside and stops people from gaining entry? Are there rails for any stairs in the garden, or do you need to consider levelling out uneven ground? When looking at your new design, you need to make sure you consider the safety aspects, too; for those having one installed or who already have a pool, having pool renovations that include securing and limiting access with fences is vital, or if you’re having levels added in for definition you need to make sure that the risk of falling is reduced and you are creating a safe access point to navigate each level and so on.

Wishlist

Once you have taken care of the more practical aspects of a new garden design, you can then look at adding things from your wishlist. Do you want a specific dining area or outdoor kitchen? Is a kid’s play area at the top of your list for a fun recreational garden? Whatever you need in your garden, you want to add it to ensure you can get the most enjoyment from the space. After all, that’s what labour isn’t it?

Creating the perfect outdoor space for your home requires careful thought and consideration; you need to incorporate all of the safety aspects of your garden to keep everyone using it safe while also ensuring it is fit for purpose, works for the whole household and is also a place you can enjoy spending time.
