
Autumn is my absolute favourite season! The crisp autumn air sets in,A it’s still warm, but there’s a chill in the air and the leaves turn golden. It’s time for Manchester to embrace one of the most beloved traditions of the season: pumpkin picking. I just love the colour orange! Whether you’re looking to carve the perfect Jack-o’-lantern, bake a delicious pie, or simply enjoy a fun family outing, Manchester and its surrounding areas offer a plethora of pumpkin patches to explore this Halloween. I was looking for the perfect pumpkin picking locations in and around Manchester this Halloween and I’ve put together a list of those places that look the most appealing.

1. Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream, Ash Farm
Not to be confused with the National Trust site, Dunham Massey (which I have done before) Dunham Massey Farm Nestled in the heart of Altrincham, is set to host its pumpkin patch from Saturday, 27th September to Friday, 31st October 2025. With over 30,000 pumpkins grown on-site, visitors can expect a diverse selection, including Jack-o’-Lantern, giant, knobbly, and white varieties. Entry is priced at £5 per car, and booking is required. Pumpkins are priced according to size, and the farm offers a range of hot food, pumpkin spice lattes, and Halloween-themed ice cream flavours.
2. Kenyon Hall Farm, Warrington
A staple in the pumpkin picking community, Kenyon Hall Farm has been growing pumpkins for over 30 years. Their Pumpkin Festival runs daily from Saturday, 27th September to Friday, 31st October 2025. Entry is £2.95 per person, with pumpkins sold separately. Visitors can enjoy a massive pumpkin patch, photo opportunities, and access to the farm shop and café. No booking is required for general entry, but it’s advisable to check their website for any special events or updates.
Kenyon Hall Farm run lots of events through the year (including strawberry picking) so be sure to check them out in the summer too!
3. Reddish Vale Farm, Stockport
Located in Reddish Vale Country Park, Reddish Vale Farm offers a variety of activities from Saturday, 4th to Friday, 31st October 2025. Entry is £13.50 for adults (pumpkins not included) and £17.50 for children (includes a pumpkin). The farm features themed archery, squash toss, and other Halloween-themed activities, making it a full-day family outing. Please note that booking may be required, so it’s best to check their official channels for the latest information.
4. Cockfields Farm, Ashton-Under-Lyne
Cockfields Farm offers three exciting pumpkin-themed events this October. From Monday, 6th to Thursday, 23rd October, the Mini Pumpkin Patch is open during weekdays, providing a quieter experience with access to the sensory room for little ones. The Main Pumpkin Patch runs every weekend in October, starting from Saturday, 4th October, and during half-term from Friday, 25th to Friday, 31st October. The Pumpkins After Dark event takes place on weekends from Friday, 24th to Friday, 31st October, featuring a festoon-lit spooky pumpkin patch, live music, food stalls, and Halloween characters. Tickets start from £17.95 for adults and children, with under-1s priced at £4.95. Each ticket includes entry to the farm and one free pumpkin.
5. Grange Farm, Lowton
Grange Farm’s Pumpkin Festival returns this October, offering a range of activities for all ages. Entry includes access to live shows, seasonal photo props, Highland cow and llama feeding (£3 per feed bag), Halloween-themed food huts, a licensed bar, fun fair, and face painting (additional cost). Pumpkins are sold separately, ranging from £2.50 to £15.00. The festival runs on select dates, so it’s advisable to check their website for specific opening days and times.
6. Pye Ash Farm, Macclesfield
Pye Ash Farm invites visitors to explore their pumpkin maze and pick from over 40 different varieties of pumpkins grown on-site. The Pumpkin Maze is open on select dates throughout October. Entry is £10 per car, and pumpkins are priced between £1 and £15. Please note that the maze may have an additional fee of £2 per person, and it’s recommended to check their website for the latest information on opening dates and times.
7. The Creepy Little Cow Shed, Brereton Heath, Congleton
For a unique pumpkin picking experience, head to The Creepy Little Cow Shed. Open on weekends from Saturday, 4th to Sunday, 26th October 2025, entry is £3 per person, with under-3s going free. Visitors can enjoy a spooky atmosphere with a variety of pumpkins to choose from. There is even a spooky dog show where you can enbeter your pooch as the best dressed in a variety of categories! No booking is required, but it’s advisable to check their official channels for any updates or changes.
8. Brookheys Farm, Altrincham
Brookheys Farm offers a pumpkin picking experience on weekends from Saturday, 4th October 2025. Entry is £5.60 for adults and £4.48 for children (under 18 months go free). Please note that pumpkins are not included in the ticket price and are sold separately. The farm is located approximately a 15-minute drive from Sale, making it a convenient option for families in the area.
9. High Legh Pumpkin Patch, Cheshire
High Legh Pumpkin Patch opens from Saturday, 4th October 2025, with extended hours during half-term. Entry is free, and pumpkins are priced from £2. The patch offers a variety of pumpkins to choose from, making it a great option for those looking to pick their perfect pumpkin without an entry fee. 10. Malpas Pick Your Own Strawberries and Pumpkins, Agden, Malpas
Celebrating its 16th year, Malpas Pick Your Own Strawberries and Pumpkins offers a traditional pumpkin picking experience throughout October 2025. No booking is required, and visitors can enjoy the spooky maize maze, photo village, and a wide selection of pumpkins. Entry is free, and pumpkins are priced separately. The farm is located in Agden, Malpas, Cheshire, and it’s recommended to follow their signs to the entrance.
11. Lancaster Park & Animal Farm, Chadderton
Lancaster Park & Animal Farm is hosting its pumpkin picking event from Saturday, 5th October 2025. Visitors can enjoy a variety of pumpkins to choose from, along with animal encounters and other farm activities. Entry is £13 for adults and £16 for children (1 pumpkin is included in a child’s ticket). Please check their website for specific opening hours and any additional activities.
12. Smithills Open Farm, Bolton
Smithills Open Farm is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, offering a range of activities for visitors. While their specific Halloween events for 2025 have not been confirmed, past events have included pumpkin picking, a Halloween Fright Night with ghoulish guided tours, and spooky woodland walks. 13. Libby’s Patch Farm, Cheshire
Libby’s Patch Farm, set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, offers a great day out for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy picking their own pumpkins from a wide selection.
