Dog Fest 2023- Tatton Park

Dog Fest 2023- Tatton Park

This weekend we went to our very first Dog Fest! This was a fabulous event that we humans, as well as Biscuit (our Poochon) and Blue (our Cavapoo), thoroughly enjoyed.

What is Dog Fest?

Dog Fest is an event that is held in various locations up and down the country throughout the year. The organisers always choose the most spectacular venues to hold these events so you can be sure of an enjoyable day set in beautiful surroundings.

Dog Fest is basically what it says on the tin – a huge dog festival. Events are held throughout the day (more about that below) in addition to the dozens upon dozens of local and national pet retailers.

Tickets

Tickets for Dog Fest are available online and can be found here. The tickets range in price but are roughly £20 for adults and £15 for concessions. We were pleased to hear that disabled visitors can take a carer for free, thus making this event as accessible as possible.

The ticket price was well worth the money. The event began at 9.30 am and ended at 5 pm (although we were still on the grounds making purchases and browsing at 5.45 pm).

Retailers

There were a huge number of retailers at Dog Fest Tatton Park, so many we had a hard time getting around them all!

Many of these retailers were local, and or small businesses. It was a fantastic opportunity to see some of these retailers showcase their products. Some of the larger retailers were there too and many of them offered discounts on their products.

We made some fabulous purchases from some friendly and helpful retailers.

Events

As I noted above, events were held throughout the day at various points throughout the venue. There were doggy demonstrations, such as obedience training.

We spent most of our time enjoying some more hands-on fun! Blue entered the completion for the dog with the waggiest tale. And Biscuit entered the best trick contest. Unfortunately, neither of them won, however, it was a great bit of fun which my 9-year-old daughter enjoyed more than anyone!

My eldest daughter entered her new Pomeranian puppy, Paris into the best puppy contest and she was very sad to lose! Only joking – we all enjoyed showing off our beautiful puppies and giving them a chance to get lots of attention!

Blue took part in the Hay Bale race (with the help of my youngest daughter). They were both exhausted afterwards but had a great time!

If your dog enjoys a splash, they can take a dip in the K9 Dog Diving Pool. Our dogs are not all that comfortable in the water just yet but perhaps next year they’ll take the plunge!

In the Action Arena, shows are put on throughout the day. Our favourite of these was one of the dogs riding around in the royal car!

What We Missed

Unfortunately, as there was so much to see and do, we didn’t get the opportunity to watch many of the shows, but they had an emphasis on demonstrating some of the incredible skills our furry friends possess! Next year we will most definitely be spending more time watching some of the shows.

I must admit, I hadn’t planned my time very well in advance. I totally missed the fact that Dogs Trust were running 15-minute sessions with dogs and their owners in which they ran through some training skills. Next year we will definitely sign up for one of the classes as they looked amazing!

Dog Fest also holds a dog walk, where visitors and their dogs can participate in a 2km or 4km walk on the grounds the event is set in. This is a great opportunity for you and your dog to walk alongside other dogs and their owners.

We cannot wait for Dog Fest 2024 in Tatton Park! Tatton Park is a wonderful place, it is local to us and one of our favourite country parks. We will definitely be returning next year to do all the things we missed out on this time!
