I had a chaise longue many years ago and I absolutely adored it. Unfortunately, it became a place to store my clean washing rather than a place to sit! Now I’m (slightly) more grown-up, I’ve been shopping for a new chaise longue to furnish my bedroom. There are so many great pieces out there!
Why a Chaise Longue?
Chaise Longues are the perfect place to relax and unwind. Their structure is designed for relaxation. Unlike sofas, designed for a seating position, a chaise longue encourages you to recline – to put your feet up and relax.
The Ancient Greeks used chaise longues from the 8th century BC. They used these pieces of furniture to dine and when socialising. The Romans later adopted this practice.
In the Victorian era, pregnant women (of course, the ones who could afford it) would recline on a chaise longue.

I used to have a great chaise! I read many books in it. I really like the IKEA one – but would need to sit in it to see just how soft it really is

I love the idea of a chaise lounge! We have been looking at a few, more like the Ikea one you listed, in place of the lazy-boy style chair that is currently in our living room.
