This autumn school holiday, we’ve been having lots of fun with a brand new toy – the Flying Bee! And you, my reader have the opportunity to win one of these bees for yourself (see the bottom of the post for more details).
The Flying Bee from Wicked Uncle
We have lots of toys from Wicked Uncle simply because their products never fail to disappoint. Each toy is created to be robust enough to stand the rough and tumble it will inevitably experience and can withstand hour of play. All their products are designed with fun in mind and make for the best Christmas presents for the youngsters in our lives.

I was incredibly excited to try out their new product, the Flying Bee. We have purchased flying toys before and had little success with them; their battery life was short and they lacked the robust structure to withstand the bangs and knocks that will ultimately come with a toy designed for flight. However, the Flying Bee was the best product we have had in this category.
How it Works
The Flying Bee arrived in colourful packaging making it an ideal Christmas present. Unwrapping the toy, I noticed it came with a USB charger. The bee did have some charge upon opening which was really handy. This gave us the perfect opportunity to do a little test run indoors. After charging the Bee for 30 minutes, it was fully charged and after attaching the wings, it was ready for a proper outdoor flight!
Holding the bee, the on button is easy to reach. A 3 second delay enables you to switch on the bee and move your hands out of the way of the wings. Firmly holding the bee, its wings start to work and it is ready for take off!
There are sensors on the top and the bottom of the toy to prevent the bee from hitting the ground. By simply waving your hand underneath the product, it keep the bee in the air. In the same way, sensors on the top of the product prevent it from crashing into a ceiling should it be used indoors. The wings are also filled with sensors to prevent the bee from crashing into an objects either side of it.
The toy is really easy to use making it perfect for younger kids and older ones too!
Our Afternoon of Play
We took our flying bee out into the garden so we had much more room to play. Sure enough, the bee took flight and floated around the garden. Once it lowered towards the ground, my daughter would wave her foot underneath the bee prompting it to fly into the air again. I was surprised by how high it could get! Once it reached a certain height, the bee would slowly descend towards the ground and then take off once more once it sensed an object in its path. The dogs found it incredibly entertaining.

Now the recommended age for the flying bee is 7-10 year olds. My 11 year old daughter had an unforgettable afternoon in the garden in fits of laughter playing with her flying bee. Each charge lasts for around 8 minutes and we charged the bee multiple times …. too many times to mention! Each flight meant a different path for the bee and a new way to have fun with this awesome toy.

If you’re looking for a Christmas present for a child, a teen or perhaps even an adult this year, then the flying bee is sure to keep the family entertained over Christmas.
