Tips for Reducing Anxiety and Stress

Anxiety and stress are common problems in modern society. At one time or another, just about everyone feels as if they are struggling to keep up.

Most people feel a bit like a headless chicken running from place to place just trying to get everything done. Relaxation seems like a faraway dream for many.

However, the effects of anxiety can be severe. You need to put a lid on it if you are experiencing it. This is not always easy but here are some tips to help.

Get the Music Out

Studies have confirmed time and again that music is therapeutic. Everybody has their jams so, don’t be afraid to bust out yours to beat the blues.

Find a comfortable spot, put your feet up, and listen to your favourite music. You can listen out loud or you can wear earphones. It’s up to you.

Although it does provide a more satisfying experience if you take a more hands-off approach and simply close your eyes and sing along to the music.

Start Journaling

Putting words on a page and expressing yourself is an excellent way for you to relax as well. Spilling your thoughts and feelings onto a page is a great way to release all the pent-up emotions inside you. You can be poetic about it or not.

This means you can write freestyle or you can choose to create poetry based on your feelings while you are journaling. Either way, it is a great way to release anxiety.

Breathing Exercises

There are also several breathing exercises that you can try that will go a long way in assisting you to relieve stress and anxiety. Breathing exercises are great because they allow you to relax your entire body very quickly.

Breathe in until you feel your diaphragm rising and your entire core is tightened. Make sure you’re in a spot where the air is clean and crisp so that you can take in all that goodness into your lungs.

You will feel waves of relaxation wash over you. Finally, release your breath and imagine you are letting out all the anxiety inside you. A great way to visualise this is to imagine the anxiety as a colour being released from your body as you exhale.

Soak in a Tub

If you close your eyes you can probably see yourself soaking in a tub and enjoying every moment of it. There’s nothing more relaxing than lighting candles and soaking in your favourite scented bubble bath. You can add some CBD oil as well.

If you have had baths before you may not have thought anything of it. What you are doing is allowing waves of stress to be released from your body as you sink into the comfort of the water.

Studies have also been done about the relaxation properties of water. If you can’t go to a lake or the sea, then a bubble bath is your next best option.

Life doesn’t have to feel like a wild ride. There are ways to hold on to the reins and steer your life in the right direction. Just select the best relaxation options for you and try to incorporate them into your routine.
