As part of our road trip this summer, we made a stop off in Como. We found a beautiful hotel, Hotel Grotto Bagat situated on Lake Lugano, one of the many Lakes in the Como region.
The hotel sits right on the lake and enjoys some of the most spectacular views of Lake Lugano.
Hotel Grotto Bagat
Hotel Grotto Bagat lies right on Lake Lugano, you really couldn’t get much closer. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and provided us with the perfect stop after a long day of driving.
We booked a family room which consisted of a king-size bed and a single bed. The room was spacious and clean. There was ample space for our luggage. We had a TV complete with Sky. The bathroom consisted of a toilet, shower and sink.
The French doors opened onto a shared balcony.
It was the most beautiful place to sit and admire the view of the Lake. In the evening, we sat out on the balcony and played cards.
Restaurant
The hotel has its own Italian restaurant. Shortly after our arrival, we enjoyed our evening meal there. The food was utterly delicious. I had been told that this region was extremely expensive, but I found the restaurant at the Hotel Grotto Bagat to be very reasonable.
The three of us enjoyed a two-course evening meal accompanied by side dishes, with numerous soft drinks followed by coffee for 100 euros.
Breakfast
In the morning, we enjoyed perhaps our most enjoyable breakfast of the whole trip. It was a continental-style breakfast with ample pastries, cakes and hot drinks.
The breakfast staff in particular were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel incredibly welcome.
Lake Lugano
After breakfast, we ventured down to Lake Lugano to enjoy the scenery.
This really is one of the most picturesque spots we saw during our trip to Italy.
I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Grotto Bagat if you plan to visit Lake Como and the region. It’s the perfect base from where you can drive out to the lakes and explore the region.
Our stay here was certainly one of the highlights of our trip and we can’t wait to visit again soon!
