Last night, my 11 year old daughter and I attended the Sweet & Sour – The ultimate tribute to Sabrina Carpenter & Olivia Rodrigo concert at Middleton Arena, Manchester. The show began at 6pm and the doors opened at 5.15pm. This was an ideal time as most of the attendees had school in the morning! The concert ran for aprroxiamtely 2 hours and 15 minures including a 20 minute interval.
Olivia Rodrigo Tribute
I am going to be totally honest, before attending the concert I had no idea who Olivia Rodrigo was nor did I believe I knew any of her songs. I was only in attendance because my daughter and her friend are fans. However, once the performer came on stage and began to sing, I recognised several of her songs. As a 40 something wife and mother, my music tastes rarely extend beyond 2009, but I was pleasantly surprised by the tunes. They were upbeat and I easily tapped along as the children around me shrieked and screamed throughout the performance!

The performer was excellent. She had a beautiful voice and was an excellent dancer. She had a great connection with the audience and knoew how to play to them. Her performance was incredibly energetic and at one point she even ran through the audience, (which resulted in even more screaming).
To my shame, I googled Olivia Rodrigo (I had no idea what she looked like) and the perfomer was a dead ringer for the singer and her attire matched that commonly associated with the singer.
Sabrina Carpenter Tribute
Following a short interval, the Sabrina Carpenter tribute gave her performance. Her costumes matched closely those associated with the singer, including her famous white undergarments and classic blonde hair.
Now Sabrina Carpenter, I have herad of and have seen perform. The tribute artist had studied the singer’s moves closely and was able to replicate these on stage to enhance her performance. Again, she was an overall excellent performer and an elegant dancer and brought a lot of enrgy to the stage.

Both artists were supported by backing dancers who were excellent and a live band which sounded incredible. The lighting (an often overlooked compoenent of a live performance) enhanced the concert.
Our Final Thoughts
Priced at around £25 per ticket, this show is an excellent way to introduce chidlren to concerts. Held in theatres rather than large arenas, these types of shows are ideal for younger children and even older ones who don’t want to get pushed around in a larger venue! Lots of chidlren dressed up wearing t-shirts depicting their favourite artist and there was a great energy. The concert was well worth every penny!
Merchandise inside the venue could be purchased. My daughter opted for a ‘team Olivia’ cowgirl style hat (priced at £10) and 4 bracelets (4 for £10). I didn’t think these prices were too bad, given we have paid £20 for a programme at some theatre productions!
The Sweet & Sour ultimate tribute to Sabrina Carpenter & Olivia Rodrigo concert was also enjoyed by us Mums. Who assumed we wouldn’t know any of the songs, but we soon found ourselves tapping along to some familiar tunes while the girls screamed themselves tired!
