Comic-Con Oldham 2019 – Comic Book Heaven!

Aurelia and I love to make the most of our weekends and embark on some wonderful adventures! Last weekend, Aurelia and I attended Comic-Con Oldham. And what a fabulous event it was!

It was our first Comic-Con and we absolutely loved it! We plan to make it the first of many!

Comic-Con Oldham is a free event held annually in the town. 2019 marks the third year of this event. Held at The Queen Elizabeth Hall, the event sees comic book writers and artists from around the globe gather to showcase their work.

Aurelia is a huge fan of all things Superheroes, so I thought this would be an awesome activity for a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Our Experience of Comic-Con Oldham

Having no idea what to expect when we arrived, we were welcomed and greeted by an organiser. He gave Aurelia a book and she was asked to go round the venue and collect the autograph of as many of the artists and comic book writers as possible.

This was a fantastic way to ensure we got the most out of our visit.

Aurelia and Batman

I was surprised by just how many comic guests were there! The stalls filled the venue!

All the comic book writers and artists were incredibly friendly and Aurelia loved finding out more about their work.

Pirate Cats

Aurelia had 2 portraits. The first was by Jenika Ioffreda author of ‘Vampire freestyle’. She drew Aurelia as a comic book character.

Next, Aurelia wanted to be drawn as a Zombie! Joe Matthews created this masterpiece!

We came across so many more wonderful artists, here are some of our favourites:

Mew-Ville

Sammy Ward Draws

Kat Willot

Nicole Bates

The Pirate Cats

Frisson Comics

Comic-Con Gifts

Stalls selling gifts were another popular part of the event (especially for Aurelia).

I did manage to find something for myself on one of the stalls. It’s perfect for our home!

My plaque

The plaque is made from reclaimed wood and is a perfect souvenir of the day costing only £5.00!

We will definitely be back next year for Comic-Con 2020! We had a fabulous afternoon and it was a really cheap family day out.

Comic Con looks exciting with all of the different booths and vendors! I like how the artists did some drawings on the spot. Glad you had a great time out there!
